The Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) project is looking to engage the services of a specialist in the following scientific applications support role. The position can be filled via a consulting contract or on a sub-award basis, depending on an applicant’s particular circumstance, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This person will be responsible for the selection, adaptation, and deployment of Digital Humanities computational science tools/capabilities on the National Science Foundation’s XSEDE resources and for the development and support of projects by researchers and collaborations in Digital Humanities that will make effective use of these capabilities.

The Cultural Studies Department at Trent University is looking for a versatile cultural theorist and active scholar in the area of Media Studies, with a specialization in Digital Media, to take up a tenure-stream position on July 1st 2012. The successful candidate will have: a completed Ph.D., an excellent teaching record, an active research program, and demonstrated ability in academic/administrative organisation. S/he will be asked to anchor “core” Media courses in the Cultural Studies Department; will be invited to participate in the two associated graduate programs; and will play a central role in a new Media Studies Program, scheduled to launch in September 2012.

J.Y. Joyner Library at East Carolina University (ECU) seeks a knowledgable, creative, and service-oriented colleague for the position of Digital Collections Librarian. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Library Technology, the Digital Collections Librarian will work closely and collaboratively with Special Collections, Library Technology, Collections and Technical Services, and others to ensure that Joyner Library’s digital collections are an integral part of the library’s collections and services. The individual in this position will serve as a member of a team of librarians and staff at ECU’s Joyner and Laupus Libraries committed to effectively managing the libraries’ growing digital collections.

As a member of the LTMS (Library Technology Management and Services) Research and Development Team, this tenure-track Library faculty position engages in highly innovative and sustainable digital library stewardship, to include preservation and curation research and development activities and initiatives, and digital library business continuity solutions; and works closely with library faculty and staff, the TTU community, other academic institutions, and other partners in a variety of collaborative ways.

The department head sets direction for the library’s technology environment and services through strategic planning, resource allocation and management, assessment, and policy development. S/he encourages creativity in digital and information technology initiatives that respond to and anticipate user needs and ensures that the library’s technology programs, services, and infrastructure are responsive to the academic needs of the Georgia State University community.
