This issue was curated by Colleen Nugent McLean, DHNow Project Manager, and Lívia Clarete, DHNow Guest Editor

This week, our first Editors’ Choice is a pre-print that claims both humans and AI systems demonstrate a preference for human-created content, regardless of actual quality. AI systems are seemingly reflecting cultural assumptions that devalue machine creativity, underscoring how AI models are shaped by human bias. The second selection for Editors’ Choice highlights a classification for affective computing, pointing to informative and interactive models. The author asserts that the interactive model is a humane framework of human-computer co-existence that brings empathy into design. “The Curious Question of AI-written Lists: Or, LLMs are Genre Machines,” our third Editors’ Choice, argues that AI models tend to oversimplify when summarizing, as exemplified in the frequency of AI-generated lists. The author proposes a writing strategy to make arguments rather than assertions. Our resources and reports this week are focused on other areas of DH, including digital preservation and online archives.
