This week, our first two Editors’ Choice selections are concerned with text analysis. The first Editors’ Choice is an article that considers the emotional impact of design choices on data visualizations. The author creates a visualization of the data from a HYROX race, and discusses how decisions like color choice affect the emotive potentials of a visualization. The second selection reflects on how automation was envisaged in the early twentieth century and applies these lessons to the current implementation of AI within education. The author describes their pedagogical approach to AI in the classroom. Our third selection provides an introduction to an upcoming blog series considering the neutrality, or lack thereof, of digital infrastructure. We have included multiple resources related to AI to compliment our second editors’ choice, as well as various reports and announcements.
