This week’s issue was curated by Colleen Nugent McLean, DHNow Project Manager, and Rachel Hogan, DHNow Guest Editor. In our first Editors’ Choice, the authors argue against the “inevitability” of AI adoption, especially in university contexts. They highlight the potential conflicts of interest that exist when the AI industry is responsible for funding a lot of academic research on AI. The second selection for Editors’ Choice is a peer-reviewed article that interrogates the comprehensiveness of Early English Books Online (EBBO) and underscores best practices when using digital archives. Our third Editors’ Choice grapples with the importance of digital preservation and the steps being taken to preserve government data that is at risk of being deleted. We have included reports and resources that concern the application of AI in university contexts to augment our first Editors’ Choice.
