This week, our Editors’ Choice selections are considering different use cases for AI in Digital Humanities. The first Editors’ Choice is an article that introduces WOKIE, a tool to aid in automatic translation of SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System) thesauri. Multilingual thesauri are often used for metadata, and this tool broadens the accessibility of multilingual research infrastructures. The second selection considers how the accuracy of AI handwriting OCR could shape scientific as well as historical research. The author describes a potential research project that AI-powered OCR of handwriting makes possible. Our third selection describes a reading group focused on the book Teaching Effectively with ChatGPT by Dan Levy and Angela Pérez Albertos. The author shares the experiences of applying these suggestions in the classroom. We have included multiple resources related to AI to compliment our editors’ choice, as well as various CFPs.
