The Department of American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track position in Digital Studies with a focus on the historical and contemporary U.S. (rank: assistant professor or associate professor). The successful candidate will be an interdisciplinary scholar whose work engages digital technologies and media within broad social and cultural formations. We welcome candidates whose work examines the digital realm, such as the social and ethical dimensions of the Internet, cellular networks, social media, and gaming, as well as practitioners of Digital Humanities, who can engage and train students in digital tools, such as, but not limited to, data computation, analysis and visualization; text encoding and digital editing and archive creation; digital storytelling; and GIS mapping. Those whose scholarship interrogates issues of race, gender, sexuality, class, and disability, and who have experience working collaboratively, are especially encouraged to apply.
