Our take: The Open Knowledge Foundation has launched How to Build a Responsible AI Chatbot Using Open Technologies, a free course on its School of Data platform. It grew out of the Responsible Climate Chatbot Lab, where the #semanticClimate team built CABot, a chatbot that answers questions using the Climate Academy as its knowledge base. Across five modules and 35 lessons, the course moves from how large language models generate text to the design of a full chatbot based on retrieval-augmented generation. It keeps responsibility at the center, with attention to source citation, hallucinations and sustainability. All materials are built with open source tools and shared on GitHub, and a multilingual version is in preparation.
