Our take: In this post for the Open Knowledge Foundation, Kannika Thaimai shares the recording and materials from the closing event of Traceable AI Answers for Public Data, a project of the AI Learning Labs initiative. Working with government agencies in Brazil and Uruguay, the team built a prototype that connects AI to open data portals so users can ask questions in plain language and trace each answer back to its source dataset. The event also launched the field guide Connecting AI to Government Data, which offers practical advice on data readiness, governance and technical design. The project gives open data and heritage communities a tested, replicable model for making AI answers verifiable.
