Editors’ Summary: This article uses two case studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of newly developed algorithms designed to detect rhyme within the ELTE Poetry Corpus, which includes the complete works of 53 canonical Hungarian poets. The author used this rhyme pattern detecting algorithm to generate a rhyming dictionary of Hungarian poetry, as well as an online tool for accessing the dictionary. The article also presents the online tool, the Poem Form Searcher for Hungarian Canonical Poetry, as another useful output of these algorithms. This article provides a workflow model for large-scale quantitative analysis of poetic features related to sound (such as rhyme and meter).
